Adolescent Behavioral Health Unit

Hurley’s Psychiatric Adolescent Inpatient Unit provides acute short-term treatment for patients ages 12-17 who are in psychiatric crisis. Adolescent patients are cared for in a comfortable, secure environment and separated from the adult population.

A multidisciplinary team led by a child psychiatrist and supported by nursing, social work, activity therapy and psychology services. All work together in developing personalized individual care plans to help restore mental stability and help adolescents achieve healthier lifestyles.

Most children who are admitted for inpatient treatment have demonstrated behaviors that make them a danger to themselves or others within the last 24 hours. On average, children stay for five to ten days during which they learn to manage their symptoms using appropriate coping strategies.

If your child is having a mental health emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest Emergency Room.
