Life and Success After Surgery

Research shows individuals who are committed to their post-operative care are more likely to be successful in maintaining their weight loss than those that do not complete the follow-up care. Our team is devoted to your wellness and long-term success. With frequent follow up with your care team, we can monitor your progress, answer your questions and help you to continue to safely reach—and maintain—your weight loss goals.

It’s important to know that surgery alone will not resolve obesity. Success following bariatric surgery also requires lifestyle changes, including:

  • Diet - You will learn how important healthy eating is in your weight loss journey. You will learn how to safely eat following surgery as well as how to avoid nutritional deficiencies as you develop positive lifelong dietary habits.
  • Exercise - Exercise is very helpful in your weight loss and health. You will learn how to safely exercise following surgery and ways to incorporate more movement into your daily life.
  • Social Support and Weight Loss Support Groups - You will experience many changes on your weight loss journey and it is important to have the support of your family and friends. Weight loss support groups can also be instrumental in your success. The Hurley Comprehensive Weight Loss Center offers a monthly, medically-supervised, support group that is open to pre- and post-surgery patients. Please call the Hurley Comprehensive Weight Loss Center for more information. There is no cost to attend and no need to pre-register.
