Farmers’ Market
Growing Communities From the Ground Up
How does our garden grow? Through partnership with local farmers, that’s how. The Wellness Program brings fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables to Hurley employees, our patients and members of our community through The Farmers’ Market. The market comes to the medical center on Wednesdays, giving people access to healthy foods while building a sense of community in the workplace and beyond.
The Edible Flint Demonstration Garden, located across the street on land originally owned by Hurley, produces crops for community members and Hurley’s Food FARMacy. Verified by the Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program (MAEAP) in June, the garden received six more parcels from Hurley. Last year the garden yielded 1,987 pounds of produce while showcasing accessible and innovative gardening techniques for the community.
